What is Lumisca?
Lumisca is a luxury Indian resort-wear house, crafting breathable, sun-ready clothing in three signature fabrics — Sunveil™ vegan silk, Mul Mul Cotton, and Botanical Linen. Every piece is handcrafted in small batches in India, made to order, and shipped worldwide. Lumisca is manufactured and marketed by Skin Project Pvt. Ltd.
What is Sunveil™?
Sunveil™ is our cellulose vegan silk — a certified sun-shield woven into the fibre itself, never applied as a coating. It falls like liquid, breathes like a natural fibre, and carries its protection quietly. It is the only resort-wear silk we know of that is independently certified for sun protection.
How does Sunveil™ protect against the sun?
Sunveil™ is independently certified to UPF 50+ — the highest ultraviolet-protection rating issued worldwide — under AATCC 183, the international test standard. Certification was issued by The Bombay Textile Research Association, an approved body of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The protection lives inside the weave, blocking over 98% of UVA and UVB the moment fabric meets skin.
Will the UV protection wash out?
No. Sunveil™'s UPF 50+ rating is structural — built into the weave, not a surface finish. With reasonable care, the protection remains intact across the lifetime of the garment.
And the other fabrics — Botanical Linen and Mul Mul?
Botanical Linen is 100% European flax, structurally porous, biodegradable, and free of microplastics — the fibre humans have worn under the Mediterranean sun for centuries. Mul Mul Cotton is featherweight, hand-loomed heritage cotton, built to sit weightlessly on the skin in heat — the original Indian summer cloth. Each is chosen for the way it lives with the body, breath by breath.
Are the fabrics breathable in summer?
Every Lumisca fabric is chosen for thermo-regulation in heat. Sunveil™ wicks moisture and breathes under the sun. Botanical Linen is structurally porous, so air moves through the weave continuously. Mul Mul Cotton is the lightest of the three — ultra-fine, hand-loomed, weightless on the skin.
How should I care for my garments?
Gentle hand-wash in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. No bleach, no wringing, no tumble dry. Lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight. For blazers, structured pieces, and finishing details, dry cleaning is preferred. Store on padded hangers, or folded with acid-free tissue when travelling. Linen will soften and deepen in character with each wash — this is the fabric living, not failing.
Where do you ship, and how long does it take?
We ship worldwide via express courier with full tracking. Every piece is made to order: please allow 5–7 business days for your garment to be made, then 5–10 business days in transit. Most international orders arrive within about two weeks of being placed. Full details are on our Shipping page.
What currency will I be charged in?
Prices at lumisca.co are shown and charged in USD, and display in your local currency at checkout where supported.
Will I pay import duties or taxes?
International orders may attract import duties and taxes set by your destination country. These are determined by local law, payable by the customer, and are not included in the price at checkout. Your courier will advise any amount due on delivery. Full detail is on our Shipping page.
Can I return or exchange a piece?
Yes — you may request a return or exchange within 14 days of delivery, provided the piece is unworn, unwashed, and with its original tags. Customers in the UK and EU keep their full statutory rights. See our Return & Exchange page for the complete process.
Can I cancel my order after placing it?
Within 12 hours of placing it, yes — write immediately to admin@lumisca.co. Beyond that window the piece has entered construction and cannot be cancelled, though an exchange remains available under our Return & Exchange policy.
What sizes does Lumisca carry?
Most women's and men's styles run XS to 2XL; kaftans are cut in relaxed one-size drapes. Every product page carries a garment-specific size guide in centimetres and inches, with fit notes on whether to size up or down. Unsure between sizes? Write to admin@lumisca.co before you order and we will size you personally.
Do you sell individual pieces or complete sets?
At lumisca.co, co-ords and sets are sold as complete sets — both pieces included, in matched or mixed sizes where offered. Shirts, dresses, kaftans, and scarves are sold individually.
What makes Lumisca different?
Most houses start with a season. We start with a fibre — and the research that decides whether it deserves to touch you. A blazer is only as quiet as its weave; a dress only as sensual as the cloth it falls through. Each piece is cut to last a decade, photograph beautifully on its first wearing, and feel even better on its hundredth. This is the wardrobe for the ones who know.
